Margaret Mae Gums, 80 of Casper, passed March 23, 2009 at The Central Wyoming Hospice Home.
She was born September 02, 1928 at Wheatland Wyoming the daughter of LH (Vern) and Ethel Dove Garriott Preston. She was raised in the Lost Well Butte Area of the Missouri Valley North of Riverton Wyoming. Moving to Shoshoni Wyoming in 1942 and with her family where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1946. She was united in marriage to Emil Gums October 2, 1946 in Riverton Wyoming. Later moving to Casper Wyoming where she raised her family. She had three daughters. She worked as a sales clerk for Fred's Town and Country, Lou Tauberts Ranch Outfitters and Kassis Dept Store were she was also a department store buyer until she retired in 1980. In 1982 she married Ralph Heemeymer. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and taking care of her roses and flowers. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time at her cabin above Dubois Wyoming on Union Pass.
Survivors include her daughters Sharon Calvert and her husband Floyd Calvert of Casper, Connie Wilkison of Casper, her sister Carol Johnson and her husband Stan Johnson of Casper and a brother Paul Preston and his wife Dorothy of Carnation, WA. She has 5 grand children and 10 great-grand children and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Emil Gums and a daughter Diana Gums, her parents and a brother, Gayle Preston and sister Donna Jean Preston.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28th 2009 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church on 315 CY Ave. with the Rev Susan Honn officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27th from 5 to 7 PM at Newcomers Funeral Home. Donations in lieu of flowers to Grace Lutheran Church.
