Marcella Dorothy Gangl, beloved mother of six children, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Wyoming Medical Center.
Marcella was born April 18, 1919 in Ottumwa, Iowa to the late John Frances and Zora Fern (Coon) Stenoish. She was raised in Des Moines, Iowa with 3 sisters, now deceased, and a surviving brother, John Stenoish of Denver, CO. Marcella graduated from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1936, where she continued to live and work until her marriage in Denver, CO to Nicholas J. Gangl on January 30, 1946. Marcella & Nick moved to Casper in 1954, later divorcing.
While raising her children, Marcella worked as a talented seamstress at Ted's Upholstery for 23 years where she tailored draperies for numerous Casper homes. After retirement from Ted's, she enjoyed her time caring for her grandchildren and other children.
Marcella was a charter member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where she was a member of the church's first choir, and until recently an active caller for the church prayer line. She also belonged to the Catholic Daughters and the original St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society. Marcella was a staunch supporter of the Wyoming Democratic Party, participating for years in the Women's Democratic Forum. She enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles with family and in recent years spending Tuesday at Eggington's with Charlotte Babcock and friends. Marcella was a kind, compassionate person who always found the best in everyone.
Her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Marcella is survived by her children: Phyllis Schulz (Boardman) of Casper; Howard Gangl (Janet) of Scottsdale, AZ; Lucinda Keenan (Donald) of Riverton; Gary Gangl (Jolene) of Newport, WA; Debra Kousoulos (Alan) of Cody; Brian Gangl (Mary) of Casper. 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren also survive her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Saturday, May 30, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Casper. In lieu of flowers, donations to charity of your choice would be appreciated. Newcomer Funeral Home in charge of arragements.
