Machel 'Shelly' Phillips-Diaz, 56, of Newcastle, passed away November 4, 2019 at Casper Medical Center after battling an infection.
Shelly was born September 24, 1963, in Portland, Oregon to Ronald and Patricia Phillips. She grew up in Oregon and graduated from Roosevelt High School.
After graduation, Shelly got married, and in 1982, she and her family moved from Oregon to Wyoming where she lived the remainder of her life. In 1983, her son Jason was born.
Shelly had a love of wolves, pigs and crafting. She spent many hours with friends painting and crafting at the Senior Center. She was very actively involved in TOPS and loved going to meetings to see everyone. Shelly was a loving and caring person with a heart of gold to match.
Shelly's greatest love in life were her grandsons, Ryker, Roman and Caleb. The three boys were her whole world and brought her so much pride and joy. She loved everything they did, and they shared many laughs and memories.
Shelly is lovingly survived by her mother Pat Phillips, brother Ron Phillips, son Jason (Ashley) Diaz, grandsons Ryker, Roman and Caleb, niece Jessica Phillips and her children Aydenn, Shyla and Rylynn, aunts Sherri Comstock, Linda (Charlie) Miller, Barbie (Chuck) Eastlick, Lynn (Larry) Prose, many cousins and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Ron Phillips, an infant daughter Cassandra and all her grandparents.
There will be a memorial service held at the Senior Center, 627 Pine Street in Newcastle, to celebrate Shelly's life, on November 14, 2019 at 2:00pm. Her family invites everyone to come and share stories and memories of Shelly.
