Lydia Mayes

October 18, 1919 — May 30, 2015

Lydia Mayes died Saturday, May 30, 2015 after a long struggle with arthritis and the body changes from aging. The struggle became more than she could keep up with and she quietly passed on.

She came from "true pioneer folks" (George and Margaret Herder). They left Russia in 1909 with their young children, eventually 15 total; 4 brothers, 5 sisters plus Lydia - also another young girl that died and 4 lost babies. Lydia arrived October 18, 1919 in Brush, CO. She was a strong worker as soon as she could walk and followed that beginning throughout everything in her life. Even as she "toughed" her way through the last few years.

Lydia married William Mayes in June of 1937 and shared their lives until his death in March of 1989. They had two sons, Robert (Mildred) and Dick (Bonnie). Grandchildren, Clint (deceased), Eric and Scott (Terri). Great-Grandchildren, Joshua, Derek, and William.

Lydia was known for her work ethics and thorough cleaning abilities. She worked in a restaurant (kitchen duty cleaning), school system (school rooms, gym, etc) and Natrona County Hospital. She was valued as her thorough cleaning and was missed when she was gone from each job.

She loved her family (especially the kids, she missed them when they grew up enough to be busy with their personal lives. They always loved her.)

How her family will be missing her.
