Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lucia Spillane, 82, on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
Lucia Spillane, beloved mother and grandmother passed away July 21, 2012 with family by her side at the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs, South Dakota.
Lucy was born March 13, 1930 in Glenrock, Wyoming to Salvador (Sam) and Maria Virgilio.
On May 14, 1949 Lucy married Jack J. Spillane, the love of her life. They made their home in Casper, Wyoming, where they welcomed three children. Sadly they lost their son Steven in 1958. Lucy worked for Natrona Memorial Hospital as a PBX operator and retired in 1989.
After being widowed in 1975, Lucy's life was enriched by the Catholic Church, her family, friends and traveling. Lucia carried a strong sense of faith and amazing wit and humor, which was with her until the end. Her strength and self reliance was inspirational, and she was beautiful woman inside and out. The moments, memories, and legacy of love will be cherished always.
Lucia is survived by her daughter Vicki (John) Easton of Hot Springs, SD, son, John (Christa) Spillane of Hot Springs, SD, granddaughters; Polly (Matt) Alexander of Olympia, WA, Leah (Jeremy) Dulin of Hot Springs, SD, six great grandchildren; Alyssa, Nicholas, and Nathan Quinn, Jace Hubley, Leslie and Tyler Dulin, and two great-great grandchildren; Ryland and Ava Quinn.
Lucia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, a son, Steven, and grandson Joshua Spillane, three sisters; Helen McKendree, Mary Casteel, and Mable Wing, and one brother Joe Virgilio.
