Louise Ann Roads

Louise Ann "Lou Ann" Roads passed away peacefully due to complications from Alzheimer's on Saturday, October 7, at the Legacy Living Center in Gillette, Wyoming. She was born in Stanton, Nebraska, on February 8, 1931, to Angie and Floyd Pugh. She and her two sisters grew up in Casper, Wyoming, and she graduated in 1949 from Natrona County High School. She worked at the Amoco Refinery Laboratory in Casper where she met her first husband, Bernard (Ben) N. Desch Jr. They were married on May 23, 1953, at St. Anthony's Church and raised four children in Casper. In 1960, Ben was tragically killed in an accident at the Army National Guard Training Center in Guernsey, Wyoming. Lou Ann met Wayne Roads while working at Northern Utilities in Casper. They married on January 6, 1968, and raised five children. Lou Ann also worked as a loan processor for Hilltop National Bank in Casper prior to retiring in 1976. After retirement Lou Ann was a volunteer at the hospital and St. Patrick's gift shops. Lou Ann was a founding member of St. Patrick's Church.

Lou Ann and Wayne went on various tours and cruises. They enjoyed bowling, square dancing, golfing and spending the winters in Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed knitting afghans, baking cookies, and making Chokecherry jelly.

Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Bernard N. Desch Jr., her second husband, Wayne R. Roads, and her sister, Marilyn Eigenschenk of Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her five children; Karen Desch of Gillette, WY, Reba Prasch (David) of Valentine, NE, John Desch (Cathy) of Buffalo, WY, Steve Desch (Rhonda) of Fort Collins, CO, and David Desch (Kim) of Longmont, CO; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Winer of Farmington, NM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Casper, Wyoming, at 11:00am, Friday, October 13, 2017. A graveside service will be held prior to the Memorial Mass at 10:00am at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Holy Cross Brothers, 1101 Saint Edwards Dr, Austin, TX 78704, St. Patrick's Church, 400 Country Club Rd, Casper, WY 82609, or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
