GLENROCK -- A funeral for Louise M. Gates, 79, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Community Baptist Church with the Revs. Rick Bishop and Carl Hildebrand officiating.
A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home in Casper.
Interment will be in the Glenrock Cemetery.
She died at the Wyoming Medical Center on Saturday, May 12, 2007.
Born on Feb. 21, 1928, to Peter David Potter and Iona Mae Rogers in Kirksville, Mo., she was raised there with five brothers, Jim, Pete, Donald, Danny and Lawrence, and five sisters, Lois, Ide, Bonnie, Lorene and Gloria.
On Sept. 29, 1946, she married Glen Rex Gates and they celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2006. They moved to Glenrock in 1954.
She was a homemaker, clothing retailer, gift store operator, and state director for the Miss Wyoming Nation Teen pageant. Her family was her greatest accomplishment. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, traveling and being the best grandmother.
Survivors include her husband; children, Karen Page and her husband of Casper, June Thronburg of Casper, Mark Gates and his wife of Glenrock, a son-in-law, and Judy Price of Casper; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren due this month; and her beloved Yorkies, Sassy and Beau.
She was preceded in death by her father; three brothers, Jim, Pete and Danny; two sisters, Lois Mullanix and Lorene Massey; a son-in-law; and a great-granddaughter.
