Lorna Duggan Galvan, 90, passed away on April 11, 2023 in Casper with her family by her side.
She and her husband, Homero Galvan, moved to Casper in 2019 to be closer to family, after living the previous 48 years in Colorado Springs.
She was born August 13, 1932 in Abertillery, Gwent, Wales to Richard and Muriel Duggan. The eldest of 4 children she left home at an early age to seek a different life. She watched Queen Elizabeth's coronation in London in 1953 from the rooftop of the United Service Club where she worked. There she met many famous dignitaries of the time including the King of Denmark and Sir Edmund Hillary. With an act of bravery, she left her family and all that was familiar to her to share a new life with a young American airman from Texas whom she had met at a dance and married a year later. The only communication with her family for many years would be through letters and the annual long distance phone call made through an overseas operator. During their 67 years of marriage Homero and Lorna lived throughout Europe and the US before retiring in Colorado Springs.
Lorna is survived by her three daughters: Anita (Matthew Dodds), Linda (Chris Erskine), and Sandra (the late Jim Hathaway). She was an adored grandmother to nine and a great grandmother to five. Sharing with her family an unconditional love and support for all their interests and activities Lorna created a safe haven filled with certainty and kindness. Family and friends were blessed to be the recipients of her many gifts including knitting and cross-stitch.
To know her was also to know her great love of a cup of hot tea and the sincere belief that a cup of tea would make things better. She will be missed.
