CASPER -- Services for Loretta Lau Duffey, 82, will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Fr. Lucas Simango officiating. Burial will be in Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Military Guard and the Natrona County United Veterans Council.
She died March 19, 2007, at the VA Medical Center.
She was born April 25, 1924, in Comfrey, Minn., the daughter of Frank Rathman Jr., and Martha Mary Gall.
She was raised and educated in Minnesota, graduating from Comfrey High School.
She served in the Navy during World War II.
She married Jerome H. Lau on April 24, 1946, in Comfrey, Minn.
She moved to Casper after World War II and started a family of six. She spent most of her time raising her six children.
She divorced her husband and married Harold Duffey.
She was very involved in the VFW as president and enjoyed sewing, bingo and polka dancing.
Survivors include her six children, Florence Jean Minkow, Reno, Nev.; Roseanne Stevenson, Florissant, Mo.; Kathy Finn, Evanston; John Lau, Anchorage, Alaska; Maria Johnson, Reno, Nev.; and Mark Lau, Casper; a sister, Isabell Kading, Montgomery, Minn., and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.
Memorials may be made to the Soldiers and Sailors Home, 700 Veterans Lane, Buffalo, 82834.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
