Linda Rae Unangst was born on September 12, 1943 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on December18, 2022.
Linda was the daughter of Robert and Iva Dean Varah. She grew up in Shoshoni, Wyoming, where she was active in the community and many school activities. She graduated from Shoshoni High School in 1961 and moved to Casper where she worked for Hiser Realty.
In 1963, Linda met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Unangst on a blind date. After a brief courtship they were married on January 25, 1964. Linda spent the next 58 years raising her family, working hard and enjoying life.
After living in Denver, Colorado for a few years Bob and Linda settled permanently in Casper where they raised their 2 daughters, Sally & Amy. Linda was a stay-at-home Mom, who made that job look incredibly easy. She volunteered at her daughter's schools helping with everything from throat cultures to the end of the quarter sloppy joe lunches. In 1988 she began her career as a Para-professional, working with Special Education students at McKinley Elementary and later at Fort Casper Academy, Throughout her 18 years as a Para-educator many children were blessed with her kind loving spirit, hugs and infectious smile.
Throughout her life Linda enjoyed being involved in many activities. She always helped with the election board, was active in Extension Club, was a great bowler as well as square dancer. She was always there to help her daughters and their friends with all their various 4-H projects. Playing the piano was one of her passions which she was able to incorporate into her other passion, Eastern Star. She was the pianist for Rainbow Chapter #44 and Fort Casper Chapter #4 as well as filling in for other chapters in Glenrock and Douglas. Camping with her family was her favorite summer activity. Many nights were spent enjoying s'mores around the campfire, After her retirement in 2005 Linda enjoyed traveling with Bob whether it was on a cruise ship or in their motorhome. Some of her happiest days were spent relaxing at Hart Ranch in South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; newborn daughter, Lisa; sister, Beverly; numerous sisters and brothers in-law; as well as nieces and nephews.
She is survived by husband, Bob; daughters, Sally (Dave) Eaton of Fort Myers Florida; and Amy (Kyle) Gunderson of Torrington, Wyoming; brothers, Tom (Hilde) Varah and Steve (Jane) Varah; sister Vickie (Brian) Sprague; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on May 20, 2023 at 9:00 am at Newcomer's Funeral Home with a private family ceremony at Highland Cemetery to follow. Linda's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
