Lillian E. Miller

February 10, 1927 — July 24, 2022

Lillian Elaine Miller passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022. She was born February 10, 1927, in Portal, North Dakota to Raymond and Lena King. Lillian's parents worked on a farm in Canada and Lena was brought by horse-drawn sled to Portal, North Dakota, the port of entry, where there was a small hospital. Lena was insistent Lillian be born in the United States.

The family lived in North Dakota and Minnesota until 1942 when they moved to Denver, Colorado. Lillian graduated from Cathedral High School in 1945. After graduation, she went to work for Western Union in Denver.

Lillian was married to Lyle L. Miller on July 6, 1946, at Holy Family Catholic Church. They celebrated 70 years together, before Lyle's passing in 2017.

In 1949, Lillian and Lyle moved to Casper and successfully owned and operated Beltone Hearing Aid Center, working together until they retired in 1987. Daughter, Cheryl Vanatta continued operating the business in Casper while son Ron (Kay) Miller operated offices in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Wickenburg, Arizona. Following retirement, Lillian and Lyle enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Lillian enjoyed needlework, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, and playing pinnacle with her card club gals. She was also an avid Denver Broncos fan. In 1961 Lillian began her tradition of sending greeting cards. She had a collection of friends and family she would remember with cards and letters on each birthday, anniversary and special event. She never missed one and helped to keep Hallmark in business.

Her family was special to her and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with them, especially her great granddaughters. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church from its beginning and a life member of the International Hearing Aid Society.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, her parents, Raymond and Lena King, brothers Ervin and Eddie King, sister Alice Schreibvogel, and son-in-law Larry Vanatta.
