Leonard M. Taucher, 84, of Casper, passed away Sept. 7, 2009 at the Wyoming Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 22, 1924 in Rock Springs, WY, the son of Anton and Mary Jesersek Taucher. He was a graduate of Rock Springs High School in 1942. He received his Masters Degree with honors in 1953 in Geology from The University of Wyoming. He was a WW ll veteran of the United States Air Force serving as navigator-bombardier in Europe. He was united in marriage to Mildred L. Brcko Sept. 22, 1954 in Rock Springs, WY and she preceded him in death in 2005. He was employed by ARCO as a geologist from 1953 to 1971. He was then employed by AMC from 1972 to 1977 and then worked as a consultant from 1977 to 1994 when he retired. He was a member of the Knight's of Columbus, WGA, PBK, the University of Wyoming Alumni and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Golden K (Kiwanis) and served as a volunteer at the Wyoming Medical Center and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Ann Yerkovich and Lois Zebre and her husband John, both of Rock Springs, WY. Three sisters-in-laws, Alyce Taucher of Pinckneyville, IL, Eva Davis of Casper, WY and Agnes Bailey of Phoenix, AZ. A brother-in-law, John Shields of Phoenix,and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Elsie and Gertrude and brothers, Tony and Ray.
Recitation of the Rosary will be Wed. Sept. 30, 2009, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs, WY with Rev. Carl Beavers as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Newcomer Funeral Home, Casper, WY
