Services for Leona M. Hack, 91, will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel at 11am. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming. Mrs. Hack died on April 10, 2013 at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center.
She was born February 10, 1922 in Goldfield, Colorado, the daughter of Edith and Adolph Skala. She married Clyde Hack, March 28, 1939, in Castle Rock, Colorado. They moved to Casper in 1950 from Victor, Colorado. She worked in various stores in Casper in management positions, Walter Berlet's Sporting Goods, Commissary Mall, Eddie Hanna's Western Store and Tripeny Drug. She also spent part of her life as a waitress at Casper Airport. In her younger years she was a welder in the Navy and welded on the Liberty Ship, one of the 200 Calships for victory. She enjoyed working in her department stores and doing the buying of products for the stores and going to market when needed. She also loved fishing, rodeos, spending time with family, and her dog Princess. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughters Patricia Washechek of Casper, Barbara Lesher and her husband Bud of Casper, June Owen and her husband Charlie of Casper, and her son Frank Hack and his wife Linda of Casper. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, her parents, and three brothers. She will be greatly missed by all.
