Leo Conway Ashba, age 85, of Casper passed away at the Wyoming Medical Center on Friday, October 9, 2015 with his loving wife, Connie, by his side.
Leo was born February 19th 1930 in Denver, Colorado. He was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming and attended Cheyenne Central High School where he excelled in athletics.
After Graduation, Leo moved to Casper on a basketball scholarship to Casper College.
Leo served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In 1950 Leo married Helen Allen. Together, Leo and Helen had six wonderful children; Lea (Mike) Lockard, Eric "Rick" (Pam) Ashba, Kendall (Dallas) Laird, Jackie (Mike) Lythgoe, Stacy Ashba, and Ashlee (Laurie) Ashba.
Leo was a great cook due in part to being co-owner of Rex's In and Out Burger in Casper, where he created the "original" pizza burger. He later spent many years managing Parker's Mountain States Appliance. After his tenure at Parker's his second career was spent in the insurance business bonding general contractors across Wyoming, ultimately retiring in his 70's from Bank of the West Insurance Company.
In 1981 Leo married the love of his life, Connie Mohr, becoming the step-father of her four Mohr wonderful children; Mike (Darcy) Mohr, Michelle (Patrick) Glynn, Matt (Michele) Mohr, and Marty (Jane) Mohr.
Leo was a sports fan! Golf was his passion, where he was extremely talented, still swinging the club and chasing that little white ball around (albeit a touch slower) even through the past summer. He loved gardening, cooking, climbing on the roof when he shouldn't to hang Christmas lights, traveling, and watching any sport he could find on TV. He was a great dancer and always enjoyed a good party. If you wanted to be in on a bet at the golf course, he was in without asking. Leo enjoyed playing fantasy golf and was one of the first national winners. He, in his mind, had 100 holes in one, but on the scorecard he was never lucky enough to chart one.
He is survived by his wife Connie, 5 daughters, 4 step-children, 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his mother-in-law Alma White, brothers-in-law Pat White and Bob White, sister-in-law Mary (Shane) Rock, and countless extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his son Rick, and hundreds, heck, maybe even thousands of other people.
