Lela R. King, 95, of Casper, Wyoming passed away on June 24, 2021 at Life Care Center in Casper, Wyoming. She was born on August 28, 1925 in Edgemont, South Dakota to Henry and Maude (Adams) Terry. She was the baby of six children.
She married Donald Mathews in Hot Springs, South Dakota in 1946. Together, they raised two children, Kathie and Chuck, in Hamilton Dome and Thermopolis, Wyoming. She worked as a secretary at the Chamber of Commerce, as a dispatcher for the Thermopolis Police Department, and as a teller at First National Bank.
Lela loved to cook and bake a feast for everyone! She was famous for her candies, cookies, Chex Mix, and Reuben sandwiches, along with many other recipes! She always made sure her dogs were well fed, also! She liked getting her hair and nails done and loved perfume. She liked to sew, play cards, go shopping, clip recipes, and spend time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Lowell, Darrell, Frances (Streets), Donald, and Helen (Weyl); her husbands; a daughter, Lynn; and a granddaughter, Chelsea Paul.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathie (Bob) Scheuermann; her son, Chuck (Vickie) Mathews; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donations can be made in her name to the Mountain States Children's home in Longmont, Colorado.
