Lavere Cone
LaVere Cone, longtime Mills resident, passed away peacefully October 18, 2005 at the age of 81, at Central Wyoming Hospice. She was born to Joseph Ira Brooks Chrisman and Malinda Carolina Martha Hahn Chrisman. Her siblings included Letha Chrisman Stoddard 1913-1976, Laree W. Chrisman 1915-1989, LaVelle C. Chrisman 1918-, Leland D. Chrisman 1920-1962, Leonard Chrisman 1927-.
LaVere graduated from Ansley High School in Ansley, NE in 1942. She married Arvine Carl Cone on June 5th 1948 in Casper, WY. Letha and Wilbur Stoddard stood up for the couple. They lived and raised their family in Mills, Wyoming. Mr. Cone died on September 14, 1970. To this union was born three children Dennis Allen, Carol Ann, and Richard Carl Cone.
She loved each of her children and grandchildren dearly. They are Dennis and Lucy Cone, Carol and Jack Leslie, and Richard and Karen Cone. Her grandchildren include Matthew Leslie and Jennifer Leslie-Hicks and her husband, Robby of Mills, Wyoming, Molly Cone of Lander Wyoming and Portland Oregon, and Brandon and Bradley Cone of Gillette, Wyoming. She was especially close to her sisters' children; Bob and Paul Stoddard, Sally Stoddard Seebaum, and the late JR Stoddard, all of Douglas, Wyoming.
LaVere so enjoyed bowling with her good friends in Casper and traveling to the National Bowling Tournaments. She had many laughs and good times while
on these trips.
She loved being with people, visiting and sharing memories with her family and friends. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and her sharp mind.
She was best loved for her cooking at special times and especially her Thanksgiving dinners and wonderful rolls!
Her pastimes included crocheting, knitting, playing cards; especially cribbage, and in her later years she loved her computer games.
The family would like to give special thanks to all of the wonderful people at Central Wyoming Hospice especially Christine.
LaVere and her family would like to request donations to Central Wyoming Hospice in lieu of flowers.
Services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Viewing will be on Thursday, October 20, 2005 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
