CASPER -- Funeral services for Laurel White, 86, of Casper will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Newcomer Family Funeral Home with family friend Michael McIntosh officiating.
Visitation is Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home.
She died Nov. 14, 2007, at home.
She was born April 10, 1921, near Torrington, the daughter of Laura Selby and Carroll SanKey. She was the sixth of seven children raised on a homestead near Natrona. She attended elementary school at Natrona and high school in Basin.
In Basin, she met Frank "Hoot" Gibson and married him Nov. 23, 1937 in Casper. They had four daughters.
Her husband drowned while crossing the Salmon River on horseback, leaving her to provide for their young daughters. Her family helped her with the girls while she worked at the Troy Laundry and later as a waitress in Glenrock.
She married Bruce M. White of Ft. Laramie in Glenrock on March 11, 1960. He worked for Amoco Pipeline for more than 30 years, so the couple made several moves to Edgerton, Torrington, and back to Casper. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage.
She enjoyed her family and helped raise many of her 15 grandchildren. She played the harmonica and loved to dance and work crossword puzzles. She was a very thoughtful, loving person and will be missed by many family members and friends.
Survivors include two of her daughters, Jean Durbin of Protection, Kan., and Judy Thompson of Shafter, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren and two surviving siblings, John SanKey of Emmett, Idaho and Myrtle Hauff of Casper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Erdice Combs, Bernice Edwards, Clarice Manning and Elsie Triplett; two daughters, Montana Stewart and Frankie Gibson and two grandsons.
Memorial may be made to Natrona County Public Health or Central Wyoming Hospice.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
