Larry James Dickman, 78, of Casper, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
He was born to the late George and Isabelle Dickman on June 17, 1946 in Riverton, Wyoming. Larry graduated from Kinnear, Wyoming in 1966. After graduation, he proudly joined the Marine Corps. Larry was a sergeant and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and returned to Riverton, Wyoming where he became the VFW Post #3628 commander. In 1976, Larry moved to Casper, Wyoming, and married Kathy King.
Larry worked as a truck driver at Pathfinder Shirley Basin Mine in Wyoming, Newmont Gold Mine in Elko, Nevada, and Powder River Coal Mine in Wyoming. He retired in 2020. During retirement, Larry enjoyed working on the land he and his brother Gary shared in Kinnear, Wyoming. He also loved having lunch and hanging out with his buddies at the Senior Center.
Larry is survived by his wife Kathy, three children: Dusty (Dale) Lobdell, of Lander, WY; Kary (Heather) Dronek of Casper, WY; Jamie (Randy Senn) Ostermyer, of Billings, MT and stepson Shane King, of Casper, WY. 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren survive him. Larry is also survived by his brothers Bob Dickman of Kennewick, WA; Mike Dickman of Milton, WA; and his sister Shirley Dickman of Scottsdale, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Isabelle Dickman, Sister Verna Larson, and Brothers Jack and Gary Dickman. His sister Sally Villers recently passed away on August 11, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Larry’s honor to the Veterans Services-Volunteers of America to help Veterans in Casper and the Northern Rockies.
Larry’s service will be held Friday, August 30, 2024, at 2 pm at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming.
