Larry James Chapman
A celebration of Larry James Chapman's life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16,2009 at 2:00 P.M.
Larry passed away Saturday, December 12,2009 from a glioblastoma brain tumor. He was born December 8, 1945 in Worland, WY the oldest son of James and Evelyn Chapman. The family moved to Cody while Larry was a small child. Before his graduation from Cody High School in 1964, he joined the Wyoming National Guard and later became a commissioned officer. Larry attended Casper College where he met his future wife, Carol Johnson. They were married on January 1, 1969 in Douglas, WY.
After attending the University of Wyoming and Idaho State, Larry and Carol returned to Casper in 1971 where he worked a number of different jobs. On July 1, 1979, they founded Chapman Trucking selling it in 2005. They sold their second company, C-Can Rentals in 2006. Larry was a member of the board of directors for the Wyoming Trucking Association for many years serving as its president from 1995-1997. He was a founding member of the Central Wyoming Antique Power Club and served on its board of directors. To expand his horizons, Larry became an auctioneer in 2005. His special loves, besides Carol, were trucks, old farm equipment, and his dogs.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carol, his brother, Tom Chapman of Casper and his sister, Darby (Tom) Blair, of Cody, nieces, nephews, several cousins as well as many very special friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brain Tumor Fund, c/o Colorado Neurological Institute (CNI), 701 E. Hampden Avenue, Suite 330, Englewood, Co 80113.
