As a family, please take a moment to remember those who have impacted you the most and give thanks. One who greatly impacted our lives has passed, and we give thanks for her.
Laquita Joy (McKinnon) Woodell was born November 17, 1937 in Orr, Oklahoma, to Edward Taylor McKinnon and Wanda (Black) McKinnon. She went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86.
She met and married the love of her life, Virgil (Woody) Woodell. Together, they would devote their time and effort to raising their four children: Phoebe, Randy, Willard, and Tony. Based on the oilfield tradition, the family moved where the oil flowed. After short stays in West Texas and the Uintah Basin of Utah, they settled in Casper, Wyoming.
She supported each of her children in their academic and outdoor activities and provided a safe, fun gathering place for their friends.
The most important things in her life were her faith, family, and friends. Laquita was serious about her faith and ensured her kids were in church almost every time the doors were open. A lifelong Baptist, she knew her Bible well and always kept it beside her bed. Her favorite pastimes were playing bridge, reading, and watching football.
Laquita worked at a credit union in Casper and then at Wells Fargo Bank for several years until her retirement. If you ever used the drive-up window at Wells Fargo, you probably talked to her. She loved her job and made many friends throughout the years.
Due to health issues, Laquita moved into Garden Square, where they lovingly took care of her for several years. She lived out her days surrounded by their excellent staff, who became family to her.
Laquita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, her daughter Phoebe, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her three sons, Randy (Teresa), Willard, and Tony (Jodi); her son-in-law Ken Bollin; her daughter-in-law Renee Rougelot Woodell; her grandchildren Heather (Bobby) Garner, Steven Woodell, Shannon (Bobby) Luciano, Chelsea (Zachary) Heller, Tyler (Greg Ranches), Emily Woodell(Alex) Schroller and Nathaniel (Abby Gatmaitan), 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; her siblings Donald (Sally) Russell and Ranee (Randy) Green.
Her legacy is her family. She devoted herself to being the best wife, mom, grandma, and friend. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her facial expressions that could make you wither, beam, or laugh, and her abiding impact on all who knew her.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 10:00 a.m. at Hilltop Baptist Church, Casper, Wyoming.
