Lance W. "Skip" Scherck
Lance W. "Skip" Scherck passed away Thursday July 14, 2011, with his loving wife of 47 years, Jo by his side. Skip was born in Casper, WY, on November 3, 1941, to Noreene Warner and Benard L. Scherck, Jr. Skip graduated from Natrona County High School in 1959. Following his graduation, he served in the US Navy for four years. He began his naval service in Las Vegas, NV, and completed his service on Midway Island. After returning to Casper, he joined his father in the family real estate business, See Ben Realty, Wyoming's oldest Real Estate Company started by his grandfather in 1912. Skip was a member of the Casper Board of Realtors for the past 47 years and also served as a past president of this organization. He was a member of the VFW Post #991. Skip was an avid classic car collector and active member of the Oil Capital Car Club. He took great pride in displaying and driving his 1966 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible. He enjoyed spending his summers at Alcova Lake on his classic wooden Chris Craft with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Jo M. Scherck, his son and daughter-in-law Brett L. Scherck and Nancy Flury, his son Chris M. Scherck all of Casper, WY, and his son-in-law and daughter Kyle and Cindy Costlow of Katy, TX, his aunt Bernadine A. Reed, his sister Renee Rodgers. He is also survived by the light of his life, his six grandchildren: Brandi Scherck, Nicole Scherck, Garrett Scherck, Hunter Scherck, Aspen Scherck and Hunter Costlow. Skip was preceded in death by his mother, Noreene Warner Scherck, his father Benard L. "Ben" Scherck, his brother, Benard L. "Bink" Scherck III and his sister, Bernadine Ann Horn. A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, WY, on Wednesday July 20th at 10am.
