Kory Michael Suba

August 12, 1990 — August 25, 2022

On Friday, August 26, 2022, Kory Michael Suba, 32, passed away at his home in Olympia, WA. He was born August 12, 1990 in Casper, WY to Kristine Suba and Joseph "Sonny" Ramirez.

An adventurous prankster with a hero's heart, Kory was well known for his love of mischievous pranks, offensive jokes, and showing up when he was needed most. As a teen, Kory found mentorship and purpose while riding horses with his grandpa, Oscar. Those afternoons with Oscar inspired Kory to put his adventurous spirit to use by joining the Army, so when Kory graduated from Natrona County High School in 2008, that's just what he did! Kory was deployed to Iraq where he served as a parachutist, driver, and mechanic for US Army Airborne Infantry unit C 3/38 Long Range Surveillance. During his 12-year military career, Kory successfully completed 34 jumps and earned numerous medals for his leadership skills and bravery. After achieving the rank of Sargent, he was honorably discharged in 2015.

Upon returning from deployment, Kory, his service dog Tyson, and his cat Shithead, made their home in Washington state. Kory attended South Puget Sound Community College with dreams becoming a medical helicopter pilot. This was around the time when an army buddy introduced him to the love of his life, his fiancé, Chayenne Quillin. Kory quickly won her heart through his thoughtful acts of kindness, often showing up with handpicked flowers simply because he knew it would make her smile.

Even though Kory spent much of his adult life far away from his family, he never let the distance deteriorate his relationships. He would regularly coordinate surprises for his mom and his grandma Gloria, sending friends over to mow their lawn, or surprising them with deliveries of his signature "Kory's Holy Hell" hot sauce which he made from fresh peppers and herbs out of his garden. Kory was known to spend hours on the phone with loved ones, especially on holidays when he would ask that the phone be passed around to everyone there. During these years, Kory grew close with dad's side of his family, and had a special place in his heart for his sisters Sterling, Veronica, and baby brother Sonny Ray. Some of his favorite pastimes included cooking delicious food to share at family get-togethers, walking along the pier with Chayenne and Tyson, and fishing with his dad at their secret fishing hole.

Throughout his life, Kory often found himself in a position to help others. Whether it was helping a family member in crisis, a brother-in-arms who needed to vent, or a stranger who needed rescuing, Kory opened his heart and home to anyone in need, and never turned down the chance to save a life. Kory was a true hero in every sense of the word.

Kory will be greatly missed by his parents, Kristine Suba and Joseph "Sonny" Ramirez, his brothers Konor Suba, Kody (Kellie) Suba, Keller Suba-Roylance, and Sonny Ray Ramirez; his sisters, Veronica Slattery-McCarter, and Sterling Ramirez; Fiancé, Chayenne Quillin and her parents, Jack and Dana Quillin; his maternal grandparents, Gloria Suba, and Michael (Mona) Suba; his paternal grandma Maria Blanco; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-arms, and friends. Kory was greeted in heaven by his maternal grandpa, Oscar Gilbert; paternal grandpa, Joe Ramirez, Jr.; Uncle, Scott Ramirez; and many other relatives, and also his beloved dog, Tyson.
