John "Kevin" McKillip
1957-2018
John Kevin McKillip, age 60, passed from this life at Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming on April 9, 2018.
Kevin was born on December 11, 1957 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, the second child of John and Dottie Benton McKillip. His early life was spent traveling Wyoming as his father was in the road construction business. The family later settled in Sturgis, South Dakota, where he grew to manhood. He entered the National Guard and served at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was married to Candace Newsam and a son, Jason John was born to them. They were later divorced.
In the late 1970's, Kevin moved to Glenrock, Wyoming with his Dad and younger brother, Kim to work for a contractor at Glenrock Coal Company. He later became an employee at Glenrock Coal, as a Driller-Shooter for many years. When the mine closed down, he transferred to Pacific Power and Light's Dave Johnston Power Plant. He married Janet Wheeler and they had a daughter, Lindsey Dawn, and a son, Ryan Daniel. They were later divorced. Kevin left PP&L when a disabling back injury forced him to retire. Kevin never met a stranger and was liked by everyone he met. He loved spending time with family and friends, camping and fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, admiring classic cars and trucks, and traveling around the country. He was generous and giving, tender hearted and would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Dottie McKillip of Glenrock, Wyoming; brother, Kim and his wife, Mary, of Douglas, Wyoming; sister, Kerry and her husband, Mark Humphrey of Glenrock, Wyoming; his sons, Jason and his wife, Marie Claire of Rhode Island, and Ryan and his wife, Courtney of South Carolina; and daughter Lindsey, of Texas; granddaughters, Madison McKillip of Nashville, Tennessee and Olivia McKillip of Rhode Island, granddaughter, Braelynn and grandson Braxton McKillip of South Carolina; nephews, Aaron and Adam Fackelman and Caleb O'Brien; nieces, Jordan (Green), Randi (Jones) and Casey McKillip, and Brogan O'Brien; Aunt and Uncle Freda and Glen Blakeley, Aunt, Arleta McKillip, of Oregon and Aunt, Grace McKillip of South Dakota; Cousins, Robbin, Richard and Scott Blakeley and cousin LeaAnn Blakeley Carr and many more cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Ira McKillip, his maternal grandparents, Fred and Dorothy (Conklin) Benton, his paternal grandparents, James and Ruth (Hand) McKillip, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
No funeral services will be held, a private family memorial will be held at a later date. His cremains will be interred next to his father, John and his grandmother, Dorothy in the Glenrock Cemetery.
