Kenneth "Kenny" Ray Shuler
CASPER ---A gathering of family and friends for Kenneth "Kenny" Ray Shuler, 64, will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
He died March 10, 2008, at Central Wyoming Hospice Home after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Cremation has taken place.
Born March 6, 1944, in Wichita, KS, he was adopted at 6 months of age by his loving parents Ruby (Woods) and Paul Shuler. In 1948 the family moved to Pasco, WA and then moved in 1957 to Durango, CO. where he was raised and educated. He came to Casper in 1973.
In 1986, while they were both working for McMurry Bros., he met the love of his life Val Jean (Jensen) Bucher. They were married on August 22, 1987.
In 1973 he went to work for Becker Olds & GMC as a master mechanic until 1979 when he left to work for Tooke Engineering. In 1984 he went to work for McMurry Bros., running their gas fleet mechanic shop. In l991 he opened his own business, Classic Auto Repair & Restoration, with his wife, Val. In 1993 they changed the name to American Auto Repair & Restoration and moved the business to the west side of Casper. Due to health reasons he retired in 2007.
He had a great zest for life. His friends called him "the shu-man" and knew all they had to do was call and he would be there. He could fix just about everything.
His work was also his hobby as he loved giving new life to old cars for himself and others. He had lots of "toys" but especially loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and his Polaris snowmobile. He was a Nascar enthusiast, a true Bronco football and Rockies fan. His interests included golfing, bowling, boating, fishing, and most of all being with his friends and family. During his lifetime he had traveled to almost every state in the U.S.. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Club No. 1353 and the Paradise Valley Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years and his mother of Casper. 6 children and their families: Tom Shuler, Ron Davidson, Kelly Davidson, Kendy Head, Shauna Taylor, Gary Bucher Jr. and 12 grandchildren, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and 1 grandson.
Memorials would be appreciated for the Central Wyoming Hospice Home, Casper Humane Society or the donors choice.
