Kenneth Lance Schneider, 52, and the love of his life, Janet Aiko Kawakami, 54, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014 when his 1968 Piper Cherokee Arrow crashed near the Saratoga airport.
A Casper native, Kenneth was the youngest of seven children born to Everett and Doris Schneider on May 5, 1962. He is survived by his son, Andrew Schneider, his siblings, Mary Jolley, Lon Schneider, Cliff Schneider and Jane Mullins, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard L. and Walter L. Schneider.
Kenny, as his many friends across the country knew him, returned to Casper from Los Angeles to work as a directional driller after about 15 years as an electrician in the motion picture industry.
Friends, family and complete strangers knew Kenny as a generous thoughtful soul ready to lend a hand or save the day. An unstoppable adventurer, his passions covered the land, seas, and skies and he was never happier than when Jan was by his side. Throughout his life, his passions included speed skiing, motor sports, technical deep sea SCUBA diving, rock and ice climbing, spending time on the family property on Casper mountain, and finally taking to the sky.
Memorial services for the couple will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Sep. 29, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel. Kenny's brother Lon will officiate and the family will receive guests on their Casper mountain property following the services.
