Kenneth Arthur Eggemeyer, 70, passed away on May 19, 2016 at his home Casper, WY. He was born on June 5, 1945 in Ballinger, TX to Arthur and Rosa Eggemeyer.
Ken grew up on a farm near Rowena, TX. He graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Rowena. After high school he joined the Texas National Guard. He then moved to Odessa, TX and started his first career as a mechanic. Ken attended many schools for Volkswagen mechanics and was a fan of German engineering. He later started his own company doing highway maintenance contracts for the state of Texas. He enjoyed mowing the Texas highways and did so for over 20 years.
Ken married the love of his life Carolyn Schraeder in 1967 in St. Lawrence, TX. They were happily married for 48 years. The two lived in Big Spring, TX for 2 years then moved to Morgan City, LA where they lived for 10 years. They had two children, Alicia and Jason, and then moved to San Angelo, TX where they lived for over 30 years. Upon retirement Ken and Carol shared time between traveling the country in their motorhome, wintering in Port Mansfield, TX, and summering in Casper, WY.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Ken is survived by his wife Carolyn of Port Mansfield, TX / Casper, WY; his daughter Alicia (Louie) Latte of Larchmont, NY; son Jason Eggemeyer of Casper, WY; his sister Delores O'Dell of New Braunfels, TX; James (Rose) Eggemeyer of Miles, TX; Lorene (Tommy) Halfmann of Coleman, TX; his grandchildren Clara Eggemeyer, Henry Latte, and Zoey Latte; his nieces and nephews Jarred and Chandra Eggemeyer, Elizabeth Hicks, Amy Kerr, Ryan, Russel, Randal, and Reece Halfmann, Curtis, Danny, and Donnie O'Dell, Melinda O'Dell Edmondson and other relatives.
A celebration and fishing trip will be held in Port Mansfield, TX on the anniversary of his passing. At that time his ashes will be spread in the Laguna Madre where he loved to chase the Reds and Speckled Trout.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and the Coastal Conservation Association.
