Funeral Services for Kenneth E. Parmelee, 80, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. September 5, 2005, at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Whalen Woodward of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Viewing will be on Sunday, September 4 from 2-4 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home.
Mr. Parmelee died August 30, 2005 at Wyoming Medical Center
following a brief illness.
He was born March 6, 1925 in Tulare, CA, the third son of Edith
(Fletcher) and Harold Parmelee. He was raised and educated in Sanger, CA.
At 17, he joined the Marines and spent 3 years in the South Pacific on
several aircraft carriers.
After WW II, he went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He had a 42 yr. career as a brakeman, conductor, and assistant terminal superintendent.
On July 21, 1950, he married Rita Ryerson of Bakersfield, CA. They
eloped to Reno, NV. Together they had five children.
His interests included being an expert fly fisherman and hunter. He loved hiking and camping with his family in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
After moving to Casper, he enjoyed restoring old GTO cars, riding horses, spending time and developing the property at South Pass with his son-in-law
Don Kincheloe.
He earned his private pilot's license with an IFR and Commercial rating
and flew single engine planes from 1978 through 1988.
He retired to Casper, October 6, 1992.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rita; two sons Michael (Janet)
Parmelee of Bakersfield, CA and Steven (Lisa) Parmelee of Norco, CA; three daughters Paula Kincheloe of Casper, WY, Rebecca (Donald) Kucharski of Bakersfield, CA, and Ruth (Jon) Spurgeon of Visalia, CA; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; Harold (Esther) Parmelee of Grants Pass, OR, and Perry (Lois) Parmelee of Lakeview, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers; Warren, Harvey, Wallace.
