Kathy (Maynard) Piper

April 2, 1958 — September 8, 2024

Casper, Wyoming

Kathy (Maynard) Piper, a spirited and determined force, passed away peacefully at her home in Casper, Wyoming, on September 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 2, 1958, in Star Lake, New York to Herb and Nancy (Lawless) Maynard; she was a vibrant soul whose zest for life touched everyone around her.

Kathy's journey began with her education at Lander Valley High School, followed by an associate's degree in accounting from Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She embarked on a career in Accounts Receivable at Woodworker Supply, where she demonstrated her dedication and strong work ethic. However, it was her transition into volunteer work that truly showcased her compassionate spirit. She began volunteering at Brain Injury, motivated by a profound desire to help others, a role she embraced until she was offered a position there. Later, she continued her service at Interfaith, where she worked as a receptionist until her passing

A fierce, independent, and strong-willed woman, Kathy was lovingly described as a "spitfire." She demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her family, supporting every member through their events and functions. She took on the role of team scorekeeper during countless family sports events, always cheering from the sidelines. To her loved ones, she was affectionately known as "Mom," "Aunt," and particularly cherished being called "Aunt-grandma."

Kathy found joy in the outdoors, relishing camping trips, fishing excursions, and gardening. Her love for nature was matched only by her passion for shopping, particularly her admiration for shoes. Kathy’s heart was as expansive as her interests; she poured her love into every facet of her family life, gathering memories through adventures and time well spent together.

She is survived by her children, Marsha (Joe) Babcock, Vicki Piper, Calvin "Bud" Piper, Michelle (Daniel) Hicken, and Tiffany (James) Box. Kathy's legacy continues in her 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who enriched her life immeasurably. She is also mourned by her siblings, Kenny (Donna) Maynard, Kara (Mike) McKay, and Kevin Maynard, along with numerous nieces and nephews who knew her fierce love and support.

Kathy joins her parents, Herb and Nancy (Lawless) Maynard, her sister, Kimberly Ann Maher, daughter-in-law, Annie Piper, and her great-granddaughter, Autumn Piper, in eternal rest.
