Obituary - Kathryn H. Penney
Funeral Service For Kathryn Helen Penney will be held Friday, July 20, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper Wyoming.
Kathryn died July 13, 2007.
She was born January 20, 1929, to Faye Lasater Bowers and George Edward Bowers, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Kathryn's early education was in Oklahoma City, and she attended the
University Oklahoma, where she was fine arts student. She was an accompanist for the choral groups there. And she met her husband Robert J. Penney at the University, where he sang with the Men's Glee
Club and the Men's Quartet.
The couple's early life together was spent in Oklahoma and Kansas. After the Korean War her husband was assigned to Wyoming,.
Kathryn remained a resident of Wyoming for 54 years. She was active in musical circles, and was a noted accompanist, especially of young vocalists and instrumentalists. She played the piano with Casper Symphony, and was an accompanist for the Paradise Valley Playhouse.
She was elected to the Natrona County School Board, and she backed the successful effort to end uniforms for girls in the highschools. She took an active interest in partisan politics. and she was great fan of the
Casper Rockies baseball team.
She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Pamela Kay and Susan Carol Porter. She is survived by her husband and two sons: George and Michael both of Eagle, Idaho. Her sister, Nancy Jean Schmoldt Outsen , of Edmonds, Washington, survives.

One grandaughter of Eagle, Ida. survives.
