Katherine Taylor

October 11, 1925 — May 20, 2017

Katherine Taylor, 91, of Worland, went to be with our Lord on May 20, 2017. One of eleven siblings, she was born on October 11, 1925 (a true Libra) in Fresno, CA to the late Caspar and Katherine Klein. She was first married to the late Wilbur McKim (Streak) in 1940 and remarried to the late John R. Taylor (Bub) in 1950.

Katherine spent most of her life in Worland, and she would tell you her greatest joy was also her biggest challenge-raising three boisterous boys. Some who knew Katherine might describe her as a sweet, generous and funny old homebody but after sunset, this self-proclaimed night owl had to get out of the house and see what mischief her boys were into. Although she could be very strong-minded, she had a heart of gold and was passionate about helping others. Perhaps her hallmark was standing up for someone when she believed they were unfairly treated and giving someone the shirt off her back when she had none to give. Although "Mom" was not a church member, she made sure her boys attended and she read bible passages regularly and seldom missed the 700 Club on TV. Kathy loved to dance, sing, and listen to a variety of music, especially Patsy Cline. Her favorite hymn was The Old Rugged Cross. During her later years, she enjoyed visits from family and friends, watching the grandkids grow and grinned ear to ear when the great-grandkids showed up. She was fond of her many nieces and nephews and her mail carrier Donna Beckstead was a special friend in later years.

Katherine is survived by her sister, Martha Taylor of Worland and three children; Irvin McKim (Kay) of Yonkers, NY; Rod Taylor (Ellen, deceased) of Casper; and Joel Taylor (Sarah) of Altadena, CA. Grandma K (affectionately GK) is also survived by five grandkids and six great-grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents, Caspar and Katherine; sisters Betty, Bobbi, Hilda, Lydia, and Penny; and brothers Henry, Reuben, Fred and Connie.

In lieu of memorials, GK would have preferred you plan to spend special time with your loved ones, human or furry; make a special toast for enduring friendships; or "give the shirt off your back to someone in need". A special thank you goes out to all the wonderful staff at Life Care of Casper. Mom always dreaded the thought of nursing care but the staff were truly a blessing. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her well. A celebration of Katherine's life and graveside service will take place in Worland over the summer and details will be announced at a later date.
