June G. Pettry, 89, a longtime resident of Casper, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Jan 2nd at the Wyoming Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 29, 1922 in Comfort, WV to Holly and Martha Greathouse, she was the second of four children. A graduate of East Bank High School, East Bank, WV in 1941, she met and "captured" her high school sweetheart Archie M. Pettry, with the "stroke of a feather" as she says. They Married Aug 27, 1941, and had a blissful and wonderful marriage of over 70 years.
The Loving mother of three children, she was an inspiration and shining example of a Mother's love and devotion throughout her life.
She was the proud Grandmother of six Grand Children, 13 Great Grand Children, and 4 Great Great Grand Children. Her Grandmotherly wisdom, wit, and compassion has successfully been passed down to five generations of her family. And will continue for generations to come.
Her passing will leave a void in the lives of those left behind, but her light will continue to guide them for the rest of their lives.
This beautiful and inspiring life was not without its misfortunes, as June was preceded in death by two Daughters, Elizabeth Ann Pettry, and Judith Jayne Pettry Timmons, brothers Floyd Lee and Harry Donovan Greathouse, and her sister Mary Rose Jarrett, as well as two Grandchildren..
She is survived, and her light continues to shine through her Husband Archie M. Pettry of Casper, Son Archie M Pettry II, Granddaughters Robin, Shelley, Kristy and Kelly, Son-in law Todd Timmons, and Daughter-in-law Karen Sedlmayer, all from Colorado.
A viewing will be held from 5pm until 7pm Jan 4th at Newcomer Funeral Home.
Services will be Thursday Jan. 5th also at Newcomer Funeral Home at 2pm.
The services will be conducted by Pastor Whalen Woodward, with musical accompaniment by Shelia Cooper.
