June H. Catt, age 87, passed away at Life Care Center in Casper, Wyoming on Friday April 1, 2016. She was born in Albin, Wyoming, May 25, 1928, to Owen Francis and Vera Pearl (Sisson) Miller. Soon after graduating from high school in Kimball, Nebraska, June married Gene E. Smith upon his completion of military service from the Navy in 1945. They had three sons.
June worked as a homemaker and later as a secretary and bookkeeper for various employers. June and Gene divorced in 1966 at which time she moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado. A few years later she moved to Colorado Springs where she later met and married Kenneth Leo Catt on August 25, 1978. After Leo's retirement they moved to his home town, Oblong, Illinois, where they lived until moving to Casper in 1999.
June relished looking to the future and planning her next adventure. She was happiest when she could be on the move and enjoyed traveling and camping, playing cards, square dancing, reading, sewing, quilting and volunteering. She was a member of Highland Park Community Church until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Her passion was to spend time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children Gene and Pati Smith of Cape Coral, Florida, Rick and Manda Smith of Fountain, Colorado, Marc and Renee Smith of Casper, Wyoming; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who will miss June and her spirited outlook on life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Catt, her parents, sister Jean Weimer, sister Joyce Henrietta Miller, and brother George Henry Miller.
A Memorial Service for June will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Kimball, Nebraska.
