Judy Kay (Hoggatt) Cagle
Judy Kay Cagle, age 64, of Evansville, passed away peacefully in her home on January 18, 2017. Judy was born January 6, 1953 in Meeker, CO to Emery and Maxine (Vermillion) Hoggatt. Judy graduated from Moorcroft High School in 1971 where she was a popular cheerleader and baton twirler in band. Shortly after graduation, Judy married Richard Dunn and started the family she always wanted with two daughters, Tabetha and Kammi. Later on she married Joe Wilsey and had Lexie. She eventually married Wayne Cagle and with him pursued a musical career. She loved to play the guitar and learned to play the drums in their country music band. She also loved to sing old country songs so long as she thought no one was listening.
Judy was an avid basketball fan and loved her Celtics. She insisted on watching the Celtics game commercial free, so she always recorded the game but would watch other basketball games in the meantime. In order to not spoil the Celtics game, she put tape on the bottom of the TV screen to hide the live scores for the Celtics. Among other jobs, she was a bartender most of her adult life and loved being surrounded by friends and family. She could tell a joke like no other person on earth; she could keep just about any soul laughing all night long. Judy was very generous and had compassion for anyone in need. Most family holidays included nomadic guests with nowhere else to go-holidays at her house were quite the shindig. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Grandma Judy, (aka Juey, and JuJu) loved to have them for sleepovers and "party down" with movies, pop, popcorn, and as much candy as their hearts desired. Those memories are cherished by each and every one of them.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Emery Hoggatt and her faithful Golden Retriever, Hannah. She is survived by her mother, Maxine Hoggatt, daughters, Tabetha (Allan) Berge, Kammi Kay Dunn, Lexie (Nga Lee) Yann, brothers, Gary Hoggatt, Jack Hoggatt, Dave Hoggatt, grandchildren, Ashley Yann, Tyler Berge, Josie (Berge) Smith, Taylor Berge, Allison Berge, Kota Yann, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
