Juan Freire-Ferrero

September 23, 1955 — July 4, 2019

Juan Bautista Freire-Ferrero passed away on July 4th, 2019 at Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions. Cremation has taken place.

Juan was born in Colmenar de Oreja, Madrid, Spain to Juan Freire Conca and Josefina Ferrero Conca. His childhood was a magical one in a small town where everyone knew everyone and friendships formed on bicycles have lasted his entire life. A Mass will be held in his honor on July 13th in La Iglesia de Santa Maria la Mayor, in Colmenar, the same church that has witnessed his parent' s marriage, his own marriage, christenings of all their children, including his and Kay's son Ian.

He came of age in Madrid, where he studied from the age of 14, during the tumultuous years immediately after Francisco Franco's death. It was during this time, when anything was possible, that he met his wife, Kay when they were both college students. After he graduated from La Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in Economics and Finance, they made their way to the United States, finally coming to Casper,Wyoming where they would make their home for the next 36 years. He became a US citizen the year his son Ian was born, in 1998. He loved and valued his adopted country, but in his heart and soul, he remained a Spaniard.

He became a successful accountant and chief financial officer in the oil and gas, and heavy construction industries. For Juan however, the greatest achievements in life were the friendships he formed, cultivated and treasured. There was nothing he loved more than sharing with his friends the food, wine, and heart of his beloved Spain. He had an infectious spirit and a twinkle in his eye that drew people to him and endeared him to countless friends both here and in Spain. He loved people and they loved him.

Juan survived by his wife of 38 years, Kay Freire, their son Ian Freire (Trish) and family of Frisco, Texas, His sisters, Maite Freire Ferrero, Josefina Freire Ferrero and Mavi Freire Ferrero all of Spain. He leaves a multitude of cousins in Spain who loved him dearly. He will be missed and remembered as well by the endless number friends he gathered during his 63 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Pepe Freire Ferrero.
There will be a scattering party on the beach in Calpe in the coming year. At Juan's request there will also be a great party for his friends, to celebrate who he was at a later date. In lieu of flowers and cards, his family requests that memorial contributions be made to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions. De Madrid al Cielo, Juan.
