Josephine "Joie" Stuckert Peterson
Joie was born June 19,1932 in Lovell Wyoming to John Conrad and Clara (Kober) Stuckert. Her family moved to Barnum Wyoming and she started school in Kaycee. The family moved to Buffalo where she continued her schooling and graduated from Johnson County High School in 1951. She has many wonderful memories of wandering the Big Horns with her sisters, Francis and Jeanne and her brothers, Robert and Lewis.
She joined the United States Women's Army Corp. and did her basic training in Kentucky. She was trained as a cook. In 1952 she met and married Sherman "Pete" Peterson in Ft. Monmouth NJ. They moved to Paris, France, where her eldest son, Walter, was born. They returned to live and raise their family in Great Falls Montana. They were blessed with a second son, Craig and a daughter, Renee'.
In 1962, she moved to Casper, Wyoming with her young family. She was a member of Jolly Baker's Dozen of Natrona County home extension office for 45 years. Joie was a traditional homemaker and mother. She made sure all her children were able to be self-sufficient, productive adults. She was an avid reader, from mysteries to histories. She was an artist and seamstress. She taught her children and many nieces to learn to knit and sew. Her greatest joys in her later life were her granddaughters Skylar and Sydney Gray.
She was received into her Heavenly Father's house on March 14, 2016 where she was greeted by her loving husband Sherman (Pete) and son Craig She was also proceeded in death by her parents and sisters, Francis and Jeanne and her brother Robert. She was survived by her son, Walt and daughter, Renee and her granddaughters Skylar and Sydney.
