Funeral services for Joe Kalasinsky will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home. Interment services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery in Sheridan, WY.
Mr. Kalasinsky died on Thursday, February 27, 2014.
He was born November 12, 1933 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Joseph and Emily Kalasinsky. He attended school in Dayton and Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1951. He attended Sheridan College and spent two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict as a radar technician. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1959 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joe worked for the Wyoming Highway Department in Sheridan as an engineer, then became a project engineer in Laramie and resident and staff in Cheyenne. In 1974 he was district construction engineer for District #2 based in Casper. He retired from the Wyoming Department of Transportation on June 30, 1995 after 37 years.
He was an excellent leather craftsman, fly-fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed building balsa wood airplanes.
He married Janice M. Speers in Sheridan, Wyoming on March 11, 1959. They had three sons. He is survived by his wife, Janice, of Casper; sons, Tom (Karen) of Winterset, IA, Jim of Casper, and Frank (Tina) of Casper; a brother, Richard (Joan) of Sheridan; a nephew; grandchildren, Zack and Chelsea; and many cousins.
He was a member of the Wyoming Engineering Society, held a state PE and LS license. Joe was a long time member of BPOE, Sheridan Lodge #530, the CWSC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Blue Envelope Fund, the American Diabetes Association, or to a charity of the donor's choice in Joe's name. They may be left in charge of Newcomer Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
