Jon Dietz passed away August 23, 2019 at Shepherd of the Valley with his family at his side.
He was born January 21, 1935 in Midwest, Wyoming to John and Mary Dietz. Raised and educated in Midwest, Wyoming, he graduated in 1953 and entered the United States Army in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He went to school and entered mechanic school learning Jeep wheel and track mechanics. He also went to electronic school and earned an Associates of Art degree. With the 7th Infantry Division, he received good conduct metals and was sent to Korea. He came to Casper and went to work at Texaco Refinery, Union Carbide for several years and then went to work for Casper Board of Public Utilities for 30 years as a foreman before retiring.
He married Joan Safarik on October 11th, 1958 and had two sons, Rick A. Dietz and Brent L. Dietz. He traveled a lot of the United States with his family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and visiting Alaska.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, his two sons, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Military Honors will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow and be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Christ United Methodist Church with a reception to follow.
Memorial Contributions may be made to American Legion in honor of Jon's memory.
