A memorial service for Casper resident Joiclyn Joy Hartung,79, will be at 10:30 am, Monday, November 8, 2012, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 710 E. 2nd Street, Casper, Wyoming. She died November 3, 2010, at the Wyoming Medical Center.
Born October 17, 1931 in Lusk, Wyoming, she was the daughter of Mabel (Bussinger) and Lue E. Osborn. She grew up north of Lusk and attended the one-room Hat Creek School, graduating in 1949 from Elmira High School; Elmira, Oregon. She met Emmett Emory Belcher in Elmira, and they were married on October 30, 1950, in Lusk, Wyoming. They lived and raised their three children in Casper.
She married Donald H. Hartung on April 15, 1983, living happily in Casper until her death. Joy began her career in banking in1967. She worked at Western National Bank,, Guarantee Federal Savings and Loan and First Interstate Bank, retiring from Hilltop National Bank in 1999. Joy was a tender and warm-hearted person, who was adored and loved by family and friends. Her sweet nature and kind soul touched everyone she met. Her greatest joy in life was her family. A loving mother and grandmother, she dearly loved and adored her children and grandchildren. A caring sister and aunt, she cherished the time with sisters, nieces and nephews. She loved to travel, especially the annual trips to Mexico with her husband Don. She was an avid gardener and loved needlecraft. Joy was known within the family as the champion crossword puzzler. She was a wonderful cook and baker, her family and friends especially enjoyed her cookies and pies.
Survivors include her husband and soul mate Donald; sisters: Wyoma (James) Seamans of Houston, Texas, and Donna Weiss of Arvada, Colorado; children: Jo (Tom) Swanson of Casper, Jim (Rendi) Belcher of Green River, Jill (Derek) Deaver of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Grandchildren: Katie Belcher, Jimmy (Kodi) Swanson, Danielle, Dailee and Darci Deaver; stepdaughters: Rebecca (Mark) Muth of Wellington, Colorado and Sandy (Kenny) Brown off Ft. Collins, Colorado; step grandchildren: Charity (Tim) Caryl and Blaine Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Emmett and two sisters, Geraldine Williams and Lola Lewis, son-in-law Daniel Dolan and brothers-in-law Joe Williams, Edward Lewis and Dr. Robert Weise.
