Life History:
John Winsted was born April 3, 1928 in Evansville, Arkansas. His family moved to
Kansas and settled in Satanta where John attended grammar school. From high school, John entered the United States Army and served in post-World War II Germany. After coming to Wyoming, John prospected for uranium and drilled for oil in various places
around the Cowboy State. John spent most of his working years as a loyal and dedicated member of the Iron Workers Union in Casper. He served there as the trainee director during the 1970's and was a trustee of that union. Following his retirement from the construction trades, he prospected for gold, researched the travels of the pioneers through the Casper area, and explored the history and artifacts of the region. Most recently, he showed his kindness by helping a local Christian day care with repairs to their facility.
