John D. Lundblad, age 69, of Glenrock, passed away July 7, 2016 at his home. John was born May 20, 1947 in Igloo, South Dakota to Walter and Anna (Store) Lundblad.
John worked at Drum Service Company in Casper, WY where he met the love of his life, Eileen Kennedy. After leaving Drum Service, John went to work as a heavy equipment operator at Utah International mine in Shirley Basin, WY. John would go on to spend the rest of his career in the mining industry. John later went to work for Getty Petrotomics also in Shirley Basin where he was promoted to ore control specialist. John also worked for Pathfinder Mines in Shirley Basin, WY and Silver King Mines in Edgemont, SD. John's final employer was Glenrock Coal Company where he worked as an operator.
John enjoyed his work and developed very close friendships with his coworkers. He loved to fish and camp. He was an avid NASCAR fan. At home he enjoyed taking care of the property and his chickens, driving his John Deere Model B tractor, and playing with all of the dogs he had over the years; including Snoopy, Samantha, Radar, Pecos, Tasha, Zachary, and Max. Most of all John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Walter D. Lundblad; brother-in-law, Wesley Benton; mother-in-law, Bergita Kennedy; and father-in-law, Harold Kennedy. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Eileen Grace (Kennedy) Lundblad of Glenrock; Sons: Gary J. (LeAnne) Goracke of Villard, MN, Jeffrey (Brenda) Lundblad of Laramie, WY, Martin (Lori) Lundblad of Bismarck, ND, and Randy (Kate) Lundblad of Aurora, CO; Sisters: Betty Benton of Edgemont, SD and Marlys (Bill) Hammell of Newcastle, WY; Grandchildren: Mady, Jack, Ian, Zane, Josh, Micah, Ben, Phia and Sarah; along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He is also survived by his faithful dog, Max.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Community Baptist Church (302 S. 2nd St, Glenrock, WY 82637). Burial will follow at Glenrock Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to the Helping Hearts Community Food Bank, PO Box 1827, Glenrock, WY 82637.
