John Melvin "Johnny" Love, 77, passed away Nov. 11, 2020 from complications of Vascular Dementia. He was born March 22, 1943 in Thermopolis, WY to Melvin and Pearl (Osborn) Love. He grew up on the family ranch on Owl Creek.
On Oct. 30, 1965 he married Janis Weeks in Thermopolis, WY. He spent most of his life in mining employed by Arch Coal in Hanna, Getty (Petrotonics) in Shirley Basin, and Benton Clay in Casper providing well for his family. After his retirement he and Janis cleaned the Casper Clinic for many years.
He served in the Wyoming Army National Guard from 1964 until 1971.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janis; 3 sons, Michael (Laura) of Cheyenne, Matthew (Shayley) of Saratoga, and David of Casper; 2 daughters, Michelle (Scott) Rakness, of Encampment, Dana Green of Casper; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, LaVaughn Bent of Thermopolis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil Love and Duard Love; and nephews, Melvin Love and Danny Love.
He loved his family, all children, country music, tinkering in his garage, fishing, and camping in the Big Horn Mountains.
A visitation will be from 4:00 PM until a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM, Fri., Nov. 13, 2020 at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Sat., Nov. 14, 2020 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with an interment to follow on Mon., Nov. 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis.
