John Leslie Kelly, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully in Douglas, Wyoming on January 26, 2016.
He was born in High Point Missouri on September 21, 1924 to Leslie Roy and Beulah Brooks Kelly. At age three John moved with his family to Colorado Springs. As a young man he and his family moved to Canon City. He was a graduate of Canon City High School. In 1943 John was drafted into the military and chose to serve with the U.S. Marines. John served aboard USS Rendova in the Asia Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1951 John married Georgia Mae Vickman whom he met while living in Canon City. Shortly thereafter they moved to Colorado Springs and founded Kelly's Plumbing and Heating Co. He retired in 1987. Three years ago, due to the onset of health issues, he moved from Colorado Springs to Douglas.
John was an avid football fan and an original Broncos Football season ticket holder. For many years while living in Colorado Springs he was an active member of the local chapters of the Model A Ford Club of America and the Veteran Motor Car Club of America.
He is survived by his two children, Timothy Kelly (Joan) who resides in New Canaan, Connecticut, and Maureen Crane (Don) who resides in Douglas, Wyoming. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, his brother Marvin Kelly, his sister Ida Belle Friedman, and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife to whom he had been married for 50 years. He was also preceded in death by five siblings.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Newcomers Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming. Services will be private.
