John Martin Ryan

January 15, 1939 — May 19, 2019

John "Jack" Ryan, 80, of Glenrock, passed away May 19, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Born to John and Sarah Ryan January 15, 1939 in Gary, Indiana, Jack served in the U.S. Navy as an Aircraft Mechanic in Vietnam. After keeping the machines running for many years for Lever Brothers in Hammond, Indiana, he moved West in 1981 to do the same for the Dave Johnston Power Plant in Glenrock, Wyoming. He received certification in Power Plant Technology from Casper College, and in 1987 he brought his future wife, Mary, to Wyoming, where they were married in the Gazebo in Kimball Park.

Jack was the second oldest in his family of seven children: Madonna, Jack, Sharon, Jeanine, Kathleen, Rita, and Jerry. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his sisters Jeannie and Donna. He is survived by wife, Mary, step-sons, Albert and Todd; grandchildren Tiffany, Jeremie, Tad and Kaz; and a whole passel of nieces and nephews!

Jack was a homebody at heart who loved to visit with all who would stop by, and loved working in his shop-- his skills as a machinist, mechanic and woodworker are evident in the tons of items he made and gave away, and in the creative fixes he fashioned for things that went awry.

Military services are June 11 at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville at 11 a.m.; followed by a get-together at the residence of Joe Day in Glenrock.
