John was employed as Parts Manager and eventually Vice President of Power Service, Inc. where he retired after 34 years of service in 2005.
He loved his family with all his heart, but coming in a close second were classic cars and the Casper College basketball and volleyball games. He was an avid fan of Rising Star Tumbling & Dance Studio and was the emcee at several recitals for over a decade. He was an honorary member of the Oil Capitol Auto Club and Casper College T-Bird Booster Club.

John is survived by his wife, Judy Gardner, son, Bryan Gardner (Armando Zambrano), daughter, Kelly Woody (Chad Woody), brother, Eddie Gardner (Vivian), brother-in-law, Chuck Smith; grandchildren, Destany Jaussaud and Dood Jaussaud, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Connie Smith; in-laws, A.G. and Eloise Noel (Downing), brother in-law, Shane Noel, and step father-in-law, Pat Pettersen.

The family has entrusted Newcomer Funeral Home with the arrangements. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and a reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Jo Ann Neal will officiate.
