John G. Elmore, Jr.

August 8, 1924 — January 28, 2021

John G. Elmore, Jr., 96, of Casper, passed away peacefully Thursday January 28th surrounded by his family.

John was born August 8, 1924 at Wheatland General Hospital to Emma and John Elmore. He graduated May 13, 1943 from Guernsey High School. John entered the Navy July 24, 1943 at the age of 18. He was honorably discharged from the Navy March 31, 1946. He met Shirley Ann Edmiston in 1947 and married her March 1, 1949. They were happily married for 72 years.

John and Shirley were blessed with Lynne Marie and Maurice Wayne. Together they raised their children in Casper. John was the cornerstone of the family and was a wonderful example of who a person should be. John loved the Lord with all of his heart. He taught his family to love the Lord as well.

John was an avid collector of cars and dogs. He especially loved his dogs Truman and Harry who miss him deeply. John's favorite past time was to be outdoors, especially in the Big Horn mountains where he loved to creek fish and camp with his family.

John is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his son Maurice Elmore and his wife Rita. His son-in-law Wade Weis. His grandson Shawn Weis and his wife Amanda, their children, Allie, Sarah, and Jack. Granddaughter, Schlee Weis. Granddaughter, Jenny McKinney and her husband Dennis, and their daughter Morgan. His grandson Matthew Elmore and his wife Mica, and their children, Orrin and Ada.

A service will be held at a later date.
