Joe Haverfield, 86, passed away Saturday August 22, 2009 in Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. Joe was born January 27, 1923 in Dennison Ohio to Wallace and Augusta Haverfield. He grew up in Uhrichsville, Ohio and attended Miami of Ohio University graduating with a Masters of Science in Geology. His education was interrupted by enlistment in the Army Air Corp in 1942. Joe served as a 2nd Lt. and was assigned to 362nd Fighter group flying a P 47 aircraft on missions over England France and Germany and also provided air support to Gen Patton's 3rd Army. He returned to the US in July of1945.
Joe married Mildred Kopp in Gnadenhutten, Ohio on July 19, 1953. He worked as an Oil and Gas Geologist through out the Rocky Mountain Region.
Joe is survived by three daughters, Mary Bradley and Ann Rank-Smith of Lakewood, CO and Theresa Haverfield-Schwartz of Overland Park, KS and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 26, 2009 at 2 PM in Newcomer Funeral Home followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.
