JoAn Marie Germain, 83, of Casper, passed away Saturday August 24, 2019 at Central Wyoming Hospice surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to the late Robert and Florence (Higgins) Greenlee, February 28, 1936, in Bedford, Iowa. She was the first of three children and was born at home. JoAn graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1954. She met the love of her life, at The Lincoln Movie Theatre in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She married Charles Germain, an active Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, in May of 1956, and resided there for 8 months. They relocated to Cheyenne where they lived until 1974 and moved to Rawlins thereafter, before moving to Casper in 1978. She was a homemaker for the majority of her life.
She worked for America National Bank of Cheyenne, Montgomery Wards, JC Penney and the United States Postal Service in Sinclair and Cheyenne. She worked as a clerk for the Bureau of Reclamation, and as a telephone operator for GSA.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was an assistant youth leader at First Baptist Church in Cheyenne and a trustee at Bethel Baptist Church, and a president of National Association of Letter Carriers of Wyoming Auxiliary.
She was a member of Jobs Daughters Bethel # 33, Mizpah Chapter # 36 Order of the Eastern Star in Cheyenne for 25 years, Daughters of the Nile - TAMAH #73 in Rawlins, Wyoming, Lady's Oriental Shrine Club in Casper, Wyoming, and was the Treasurer of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Wyoming. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with her family.
JoAn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles of Casper; her children David Germain of Las Vegas, Nevada; Karen Hogan of Casper; brother, Roger Greenlee of Cheyenne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lawrence Greenlee, and nephew, Paul Greenlee.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Newcomer Casper Chapel.
