Jo Hamblin Thompson of Casper, WY passed away July 31, 2014 at the age of 90. She was born in Jack Rock Holler, Hazard, KY to the late Emery & Rhoda Hamblin.
Jo, "Babe", was a 1942 graduate of Hamilton, (OH) High School; a 1945 graduate of The Christ Hospital School of Nursing, Cincinnati, OH. After receiving her RN degree, she completed her tour of duty as a member of U.S. Army Nurse Cadet Corps at Christ Hospital where she also worked for Dr. Wm. Gillespie.
On June 5, 1946 Jo married the late Gordon T. Thompson in Cincinnati where they resided until they relocated to Minneapolis and then to Bloomington, MN. While raising a family, Jo worked as a nurse in the Bloomington School system as well as at the Masonic Home.
After Gordon's retirement, they moved to Spicer, MN where they enjoyed their home on Nest Lake for many years. In 1988 they moved to Casper, WY where she was active with the Wyoming Medical Center Auxiliary, the Diabetes Support Group and served on the Board of the Alzheimer's association of Casper, WY.
Jo loved spending time with friends & family, especially her three grandchildren. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed knitting, singing with the Meadowlarks, an accomplished organist and loved to read.
She is survived by three daughters; Jane Klofstad-Wilson, Julie Isaacs (Sid) and Joanne Stewart (John) of Casper. Grandma is dearly missed by her grandchildren, Josh Klofstad of Overland Park, KS and Kaylee and Kirstin Neal of Casper, as well as by her many nieces and nephews and their families.
Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Emery & Rhoda; brothers, Thomas Halcomb Hamblin, Rev. Morton Hamblin; sister Addie Reeb and nephew Rev. Thomas Reeb.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Casper Humane Society, Women in Military Service of America Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery or Central Wyoming Hospice in Jo's name.
