Jerry Reid Overman, age 77, of Casper, passed away on November 23, 2017 surrounded by his family. Jerry was born July 28, 1940 in Valentine, NE to Clarence and Fern (Judy) Overman. He was a graduate of Rock County High School in Bassett, NE. Afterwards he proudly served in the United States Navy as a Radioman aboard the U.S.S. Black. On September 2, 1967 he married Elaine Corson, they moved to Denver, CO and raised a family. In 1988 they returned to Casper where they remained until his passing. He was employed with King Soopers and Albertsons for more than 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing and in his later years he enjoyed golfing. Above all Jerry was an accomplished bowler, with 15-300 games and 3-800 series' to his record. Jerry was a very sociable person with an outstanding wit and made friends wherever he went.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother Dan. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, daughters; Kelli Ann and Kim (Don) Wright, brothers, George (Sue), Richard (Marian), and Robert (Sandy) Overman, sisters; Jeanne (Dick) Young and Judi (Tom) Mathisen, grandchildren; Chelsea, Cody, Johnnie, and Adam, great-granddaughters; Adalee and Athena, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Viewing for family and close friends will be held on Monday, November 27, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Casper Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, at 10:30 am. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1240 S. Missouri Ave., Casper, WY 82609, with a Reception to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Casper Humane Society where his granddaughters are employed, 849 East E Street, Casper, WY 82601.
