Janet Saby Richards, 61, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at central Wyoming Hospice surrounded by her friends and family. She was born on January 13, 1959 to Ralph and Mary Saby in Lander, Wyoming. Janet was the youngest of four children. As a child, her favorite times were spent with her family fishing. She graduated from Lander Valley High School and went on to receive her Associates Degree in nursing from Central Wyoming College in Riverton.
Janet's nursing career took her many places across the United States, her favorite place;her heaven on earth was Crescent City in California.
Janet always had a gypsy soul and was lucky enough to travel and do what she loved; she was always taking care of someone, whether it was a listening ear, a hug, advice, or whatever she could do to cheer someone up in hard times. She loved us all unconditionally and was always our biggest supporter. The light of her life was her grandsons. She had the biggest heart, an infectious laugh and was a true warrior. Even on her worst days, she was always there for someone else and never ceased to amaze us with her sense of humor. She is loved by many and missed dearly.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Anne Saby; brother in law, Mark Currigan, cousin, Linda Peterson; and her closest friend, Martha Jolley.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristl James; son, Charly (Brandi) Travers; son in law, Josh James; grandsons, Dakota James, Bo James, and Rhys Travers; great-granddaughter, Tenslee Jo; sisters, Nancy Currigan and Phyllis (Gordon) Michaud; her dog, Ziggy; close friends, Darlene Burdick and Denise Hunsberger; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other friends.
A Celebration of Janet's Life Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Newcomer Casper Chapel. A reception will follow at the Casper Elks Lodge, 108 East 7th Street, Casper, Wyoming.
